Meet a Roman Gaius Cornelius Rufus (or Gaius to his friends) is a Roman living in Britain. He has travelled around the Roman Empire, including Roma itself. Like many of his friends, he has family from Gaul and beyond; he lives in Britain in a small town north of Verulamium (St Albans). When he visits, he'll teach your students the games soldiers and citizens played in their spare time. Learn how to get revenge on the thief who stole your boots in the bath house. Hear about the strange goings on at the munera (gladiatorial games) and why the Emperor is well advised to listen to the wishes of even the poorest people. With KS2 in mind, our workshops are designed to educate and entertain. Using a combination of activities and talks, your students will learn things about the Romans that you're unlikely to find in a text book. |
